About Us; Chandos Records is one of the world's premier classical music record companies, best known for its ground breaking search for neglected musical gems. Taras Bulba does seem to flow freely, ranging greatly through many moods, colors, and tonalities. The first movement, "The Death of Andrei," portrays the story of one of Taras' sons, who, because of his love for a Polish girl chooses to fight on the Polish side, against his own people. Karel Ancerl’s Taras Bulba captures the music’s drama, strength, and color as few other versions have–for a case in point, just listen to the opening of the second movement, with its rippling harp against slashing strings–and his few amendments to Janácek’s quirky orchestration (timpani at the very end, for example) are both logical and tasteful. Janacek - Taras Bulba - CD - musik - Ginza.se

Work introduction The Taras Bulbarhapsody, one of the most remarkable orchestral compositions of the 1910s, is a proof of Janá?ek’s admiration of Russian literature and culture. In 1905, he read the original Russian version of Gogol’s novel in the Russian Club in Brno. The Cossack Taras Bulba was a creation of Nikolai Gogol, whose novella Taras Bulba appeared first in 1835; Gogol expanded the story into its now familiar form seven years later. One of these was Nicolai Gogol's story Taras Bulba, which Janácek turned into an orchestral suite in three movements. The work depicts episodes from a 1628 war between Cossacks and Poles, and the events surrounding the death of a Cossack military leader named Taras Bulba. Taras Bulba Alt ernative.
