1. The Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Coordination (Beery VMI), is one of the main tests used for diagnosing dyspraxia in the face-to-face assessment. The Berry VMI is a world-renowned dyspraxia test, which is used to identify visual motor problems associated with dyspraxia. An Educational Psychologist may assess using a WAIS IQ Test to indicate the ‘likelihood’ of dyspraxia, if the difference between the verbal IQ is markedly greater than the performance IQ. However, the IQ test is not designed as a diagnostic test for dyspraxia and, though it is useful, does not tell you the whole picture, or what practical strategies will help with movement or sensory or learning difficulties. Cognitive Tests – Certain intellectual screening tests are performed by a trained examiner (usually a psychiatrist or psychologists) to assess learning and intellectual problems. Usually among patients with dyspraxia, the intellectual abilities are not affected. Motor Skill Test – Motor tests include gross motor and fine motor skills testing.
